is this a comeback? or is it a teaser? only one way to find out...
the last time i wrote to you, i promised myself that i would try to do it more often. not only because being validated on the internet feels great, but because the process of curating and delivering my favorite content to 800+ readers is a truly enthralling experience for my inner child (is this term officially overused? the tiktokification is real.)
citizens of the internet obsessed over our “ins and outs” lists to kickoff 2024. naturally, i participated in the trend 👇

2024 will be the year of doing all the things that made me happy as a kid, refining my craft (community building), and prioritising health. also, hopefully graduating! 🎓
without further ado, let’s dive into the best of what i consumed in january ‘24 so that i can look back at this in a few years and feel good about myself:
📘 what i’m reading:

the inheritance games: a YA mystery where a teenage girl unexpectedly inherits a billionaire's fortune, but the catch is she must solve a series of puzzles and navigate a complex web of family secrets to claim it all. think 'Clue' meets 'Gossip Girl' with a modern, suspenseful twist.
the millionaire fastlane: a motivational kick-in-the-pants for those seeking financial success at an accelerated pace (*cough*, me, *cough). this book challenges traditional financial wisdom, urging readers to ditch the slow lane of traditional employment and embrace entrepreneurial ventures to achieve wealth and freedom quickly. recommended by ali abdaal.
ghosts: a witty and relatable exploration of modern dating, friendship, and self-discovery in the digital age, served with dolly alderton’s signature humor and candid observations. it's like a hilarious but heartwarming conversation with your best friend about love, life, and the chaos in between.
desperately seeking shahrukh khan: brilliantly intertwines the charm of SRK with profound insights into how his films shaped the ideals of Indian women, showcasing empowering stories of rebellion against societal norms across different levels of socio-economic status. a captivating read for everyone, offering a unique perspective on the influence of pop culture on personal narratives and urging readers to rethink societal expectations. recommended by yasashvi paarakh.
that’s bold of you by case kenny: honestly, i thought that i was done with self-help books. but this one is different. stumbled onto it because of case kenny’s viral instagram content, and beyond hooked to this inspiring but not preachy read about how embracing your uniqueness is the secret to being secure in yourself. i’m taking it slow with this one but highly recommend it already!
🎧 what im listening to:
how to build immense inner strength, david goggins on huberman lab: yes, i understand that goggins is not for everyone. no, i am not sick of him. if you’ve been reading my newsletter for a while, you’ve probably heard far too much about why i admire him in the past. this podcast stood out from the rest, because unlike his other interviewers, huberman adds scientific reasoning to david’s rigour. overall, loved seeing goggins in his element after a long, long time: unapoligetically himself and “hardcore”.
tyler denk of beehiiv | first time founders with ed elson: spoiler alert, i’m considering moving this newsletter to beehiiv. friends have shared great things, and I really enjoyed listening to their co-founder on this interview. He also has a really cool newsletter of his own called “Big Desk Energy”!
is work life balance bad advice? hear it from the CMO of netflix:
tanmay bhaton content creation with varun mayya: if you’re just starting out as a creator in 2024, you must watch this. but if you’ve been in the game for a while, there’s not much new in here. regardless, an extremely enjoyable conversation between 2 minds who understand marketing and the indian consumer extremely well.
life vs living: breaking the rules in 2024, connor franta: for over 10 years now, connor franta manages to encapsulate the things im feeling and packaging them into beautiful words and even better visuals. i watched this on a night where i was struggling to sleep, but passed out peacefully right after.
🎶 january playlist:
“the best music is essentially there to provide you something to face the world with.” — bruce springsteen
💭 a quote that i’m thinking about:

📸 camera roll dump:

🌱 cool stuff from random places:
“selena gomez’s 18hr social media break”, by hunter harris: in this piece, the writer dissects how celebrities really do just be like us. and how some of the most popular women on instagram (and the world?!) use the platform like any regular girl you probably went to school with. “I am permanently online, way too online, brain worms online, like I may not see the pearly gates-online. I do not live under the jurisdiction of some pesky screen time push alert.”
“your work is going to fill a large part of your life. and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. and the only way to do great work is to love what you do. if you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. don’t settle.” - steve jobs
patio community page: speaking of doing great work, i’m immensely proud of this product that we’re building at world of women. patio is the space for WoW members to explore, gather and shine. this month, we released a page through which members can discover each other based on common interests and geolocation on a purple, WoWified world map. patio is all about good, curated vibes for people that are seeking more depth on the internet. ✨cool pfps, and even cooler people behind them. ✨
marketing lessons that everyone should know about: in this thread, prasad combines 4 years worth of observations into one thread. something that stood out: “the internet is for entertainers, not educators.” is this true? are we truly only in pursuit of distraction? the more i think about it, the truer it gets. and the numbers never lie.
⚡️👗👩🏽💻💿
sephora universe: the big retail giant sephora that us girls have grown to love over the years is currently launching a beta version of their metaverse, and WoW members are receiving early access to this (europe based only)! we’re doing a community exploration TONIGHT and i am jazzed about it. will let y’all know how it went on socials after so keep an eye out 👀
thank you for reading this and for being subscribed to the newsletter, despite the recent inactivity! i appreciate all 834 of you so much 🙏 feel free to reply to this email with any thoughts that you’d like to share - i love hearing from you :) i hope that february (i’m turning 22, in ✨paris✨) will be a great month for us all, and i can’t wait to write to you again 💙
with gratitude,kashvi 📘
