🎙️Community Recs, ☕ Internship, 💡 Deep Work
Hello 👋🏽
I hope that June was kind to you. It was a month of adjustments for me. I took up additional roles and June was all about getting used to them and ensuring that I build a system that allows me to give 200% to each one. 💻
☕ The startup I’m interning at, Filter Coffee HQ, crossed 10,000 subscribers! We are on a mission to change everyday media for GenZ. Would really appreciate you checking it out and giving it a sub if you're into entrepreneurship, finance, and technology. We’re launching something special soon! 🚀
Without further ado, let’s review June 🥰
📘 What I’m Reading:
“The Surprising Gift of Doubt” by Marc Pitman: A book that teaches you how to leverage uncertainty to become a better leader. It’s been a great read because I’m learning so much about tackling imposter syndrome and harnessing the same feelings to develop leadership skills. 🎁
“Big Mistake: An Anthology on Growing Up and Other Tough Stuff”: This label-defying anthology for every young adult explores all types of writing - fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc. Must read for every 13 to 21 year old! 🌱
🎧 What I’m Listening To:
Community Podcast Recommendations: I put up a story asking y'all which podcasts you enjoy listening to and reached out to you for your favorite episodes. I have compiled everything into one playlist (we have 50 followers on it?!) and I'm currently making my way through all your amazing suggestions. 📲
The Peony Podcast: If you're a woman in business, you NEED to listen to this one. Follow the podcaster (Natalie) on IG as well, her content is super inspiring. Hearing about her story so far has been pretty cool because although I've been following her page for a while, I didn't know much about her life. I love it when creators use podcasts or long-form YouTube videos to give their audience a peek into what they do full time. 💗
Pops & Drops: I couldn’t relate to this one much because I'm not the target audience, but if you're a sports fanatic or obsessive card trader, you will absolutely love this conversation. I know this because I sat through the entire thing even though I'm not particularly interested in this niche. 🎴
🎶 June Playlist:
Solar Power, more Olivia Rodrigo & WILLOW …
📚 Advice from Books:
"Decades of work from multiple different subfields within psychology all point toward the conclusion that regularly resting your brain improves the quality of your deep work. 💡
When you work, work hard. When you’re done, be done.
Your average e-mail response time might suffer some, but you’ll more than makeup for this with the sheer volume of truly important work produced during the day by your refreshed ability to dive deeper than your exhausted peers. 📈
If you keep interrupting your evening to check and respond to e-mail, or put aside a few hours after dinner to catch up on an approaching deadline, you’re robbing your directed attention centers of the uninterrupted rest they need for restoration. Even if these work dashes consume only a small amount of time, they prevent you from reaching the levels of deeper relaxation in which attention restoration can occur. 🧘♀️
Only the confidence that you’re done with work until the next day can convince your brain to downshift to the level where it can begin to recharge for the next day to follow. 🌅
Put another way, trying to squeeze a little more work out of your evenings might reduce your effectiveness the next day enough that you end up getting less done than if you had instead respected a shutdown."

💭 A quote that summarises this month:
“Start a side project instead of a company. Write a blog post instead of a book. Lower the stakes to increase the odds.” - Sahil Lavingia

How to Take Notes like Kendrick Lamar:I’ve been listening to Kendrick Lamar since I was 14 years old. Kendrick’s lyrics are powerful and never cease to blow me away. In this video, David breaks down Kendrick’s note-taking process and how it has helped the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper advance in his career. ✍🏽
‘This is who I am’: FEWOCiOUS on his life in art: Victor, a.k.a FEWOCiOUS, is an 18-year-old NFT artist who has staged multiple successful solo releases, as well as two groundbreaking collaborations. I recently discovered his art and I am amazed by the amount of thought he puts into his work and the way in which he has used adversity to overcome obstacles. His story makes me empathize with him but also makes me feel inspired. I look forward to seeing all of his upcoming projects and hope to discover more artists like him in the NFT space. 🖼️
Side Hustle Stack: If you're a creator or a small biz owner, this might be super helpful for you. Side Hustle Stack is a free resource to find platform-based work, ranging from gig work and side hustles to platforms that help you start a small business that can grow. Although I haven't explored their featured tools yet, I look forward to it because I came across some really interesting platforms through this 💻
Ethereum 2.0: Eth2 refers to a set of interconnected upgrades that will make Ethereum more scalable, more secure, and more sustainable. These upgrades are being built by multiple teams from across the Ethereum ecosystem. This webpage has all the information about how its being built + niche discord servers for people to participate in R&D. A bunch of it is beyond my intellect but I’m trying my best to keep up with the developments because as most of you know, I’m incredibly bullish on Ethereum. This is not financial advice! ⟠Leave a comment🙏🏽 Thank you for reading, and for subscribing to this. I appreciate all 396 of you.
