the final finals, aussie life, and slowing down. 🦘🧖🏽♀️
currently in this strange, liminal space between having finished my final exams, and awaiting the results. waves of relief, anxiety and occasionally indifference come and go, but i’m just trying to sail through it by keeping my zen, having faith and focusing on what i can control.
the first half of may was dedicated to academics, but the second half has been about discovering a new city and spending time with my sister. i’m currently writing this from her couch in melbourne, with way more caffeine in my system than there should be at 1am on a thursday night. but alas, these are the simple joys of life.
i’m in australia for a good time, and not a long time. so i’ve been making the most of it by spending my days in cafes, parks and museums. when i come back home in the evenings, i start working again (UK hours) and i’m often hunching over my laptop at 3am on crypto twitter. but hey no complaints - staying busy keeps me sane.
but in this pursuit of sanity, i’ve also discovered the importance of doing nothing. of taking things slow. and that’s precisely the plan for the next few weeks. to just be a 22 year old who is curious about life and relentless in her work, but also understands what it means to truly rest.
but anyway, let’s dive into the best of what i consumed in may ‘24:
📘 what i’m reading:
the ride of a lifetime by robert iger: insights from 15 years of managing one of the world’s biggest creative businesses packed into one highly engaging book. could not recommend this enough to budding entrepreneurs, and kicking myself for not picking this up sooner.
outlive by peter attia: i have not finished this one but it has some really good insights about longevity, and optimising our day to day routine to prolong our lifespan. however, i felt kinda unseen because many of the stats they’ve referred to are in context to studies conducted on men. so not all the info is super relevent to women’s bodies. it’s still a good read, i just haven’t gotten all the way through yet.
🎧 what im listening to:
taylor swift & martin mcdonagh / directors on directors: an oldie but a goldie, this popped up on my youtube suggestions and i ended up rewatching the whole thing.
the power of feminine energy and unleashing inner strength, mona vand: i’ve been following mona vand for a while now (discovered her through garyvee) and she relaunched her podcast, monavated. in this first episode, she sits down with her therapist to navigate life-altering experiences. i found myself relating to a lot of these methods, and i’d recommend this to anyone that’s currently undergoing a journey of healing.
reacharging my social battery: ngl, i’ve been way less social than i usually am lately. it has to do with a bunch of reasons but i just really liked watching this 25 min video of noah doing things that bring him joy to feel better again.

💭 a quote that i’m thinking about:
“Don’t be in the business of playing it safe. Be in the business of creating possibilities for greatness.”

is wellness culture fuelling a health anxiety crisis?: in this article for dazed beauty, serena smith breaks down how consumerism is taking over our habits, and we are being fed lies under the pretence of wellness.
not one woman has told me otherwise
adding new prompts to my daily journal: many of you know that i like to write everyday. nothing too crazy, just enough to document what i did in 24 hours. reading this post made me add 2 prompts to my process -
