Hello 👋🏽

I haven’t been reading as much as I usually do, but weirdly enough, I don’t feel guilty about it. I’ve been putting that time and energy into NFTs, community management and exploring web3 as a whole! 🌿

Feels like I’ve spent this month in a liminal space, a place between one destination and the next. Where you were, versus where you want to be. It’s a good feeling, because it gives me the mental comfort to continue experimenting. 🧪

📘 What I’m Reading:

I haven’t finished a single book this month. I’m constantly reading NFT talk across 10 Discord servers. I did start “Beautiful World, Where are You” by Sally Rooney but didn’t end up finishing the whole book.

🎧 What I’m Listening To:

1. Props & Drops Ep 6: US Open Recap, Gas Fees & NFTs Beyond The Artwork: I skipped the US Open part because I know nothing about it, but I really enjoyed the rest of the conversation. Kalish and Gary talk about why most NFT projects will fail, flip life on the blockchain, and of course, VeeFriends. Fun fact: Kalish owns the Diamond “Diamond-hands” Hen 💎 This episode will be good for beginners in the NFT space because mental models as well as ways to flip are discussed. 🐓

2. The Full Story of Mr. Beast: In this two-hour-long conversation, Mr Beast sits with Colin and Samir to talk about his journey as a creator and his faith in YouTube as a platform. Although I don’t watch his content, it was really cool to hear about his incredible story and also discover some of the crazy things he does on his main channel. His growth as a creator has been beyond commendable. 🎥

1. Why Emma Chamberlain is the New Casey Neistat: According to Colin & Samir, there are two types of creators: idea-based creators and relationship based creators. MrBeast is someone we’d classify as idea-based because people watch his content for the things that he does. However, for creators like Casey and Emma, their audience is built on the relationship they have with them. In this video, C&S dive deep into what this means, and why its rare. ✨

2. Twitter’s NFT Lingo: In this fun thread, CrpytoPunk 6529 breaks down all the NFT lingo you need to know before you dive into the meta verse. Its an entertaining read for NFT natives and a rather educational one for NFT newbies. 🧠 My personal favourite will always be GM ☀️

Tesla Traded for a VeeFriends NFT: Yeah, you read that right. Dan Markham, the creator of the seven-million subscriber What’s Inside YouTube channel, has traded his Tesla Roadster for a single nonfungible token (NFT) from Gary Vaynerchuk’s collection, “VeeFriends”. The token is an Epic Positive Porcupine and it has offers worth $50,000 (16 ETH) as you read this. A VeeFriend for a Tesla is an iconic trade that will go down in the history of NFTs. 🟢

5. World of Women Interview: Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to interview Yam & Raph, Founders of a bluechip NFT project called “World of Women”. This is big for me because WoW is the first project that I invested in with my own ETH, and it has done super well since. We spoke about World of Women’s story so far, advice for NFT artists, and future plans of the project. 🎉

7. How to Create Superfans like Taylor Swift: Y’all know I love Taylor Swift. The world loves Taylor Swift. Teenage girls pray to Taylor Swift. In this video, Perell breaks down how she built an obsessive fanbase and has become the world’s most iconic pop culture musician. He breaks down her writing process, and her obsession with journalling (+ revisiting those journals when she writes her songs). This is one of my favourite clips of Taylor’s creative process (not in the video):

In this section, we dive into NFT news and projects that I love from this month.

Five VeeFriends Original Drawings by GaryVee Auctioned at Christie’s 10/1

Christie’s is the auction house that held the first ever auction for a “digital painting” aka an NFT, back in March and it sold for $69 million. Gary’s auction will feature his actual, physical drawings rather than NFTs. Why is this important? This auction demonstrates the clear value of NFTs in both the digital and physical arenas. It signifies to critics and those who remain skeptical that non-fungible tokens are not simply “jpegs” – they hold significant viability as real world assets. Now, there is the potential to own a VeeFriend both in token and physical form. (Read full version)

World of Women launches airdrop series, “Worlds of Women” of minimum 2 rounds

I LOVE this project. In this airdrop series, they gather teams of 7 amazing artists whose work they love and they create one NFT each that would be airdropped to WoW NFTs holders Each NFT from this series illustrates one of the 7 worlds. Those NFTs are an official visual representation from the Worlds. The Next drop will happen in October (halloween themed? 👀) but here’s what I got from Season One:

Dapper Dinos: Pre-launch programme, Vision & Karma Collective

Dapper Dinos are a collection of 9,999 randomly generated dinosaurs roaming the Ethereum Blockchain. 555 of these Dinos were airdropped to. VeeFriends holders as a part of the pre-launch programme. I was lucky enough to get one! Woot 🎉 I made some small flips with this project and ended up with 2 dinos that I love. DD was founded with the idea of being a family-friendly, kid-loveable, hyper-collectible, and fun to look at collection of Dinosaur NFTs! This project was started to give back to the founder’s kids and the mantra of charity and community is woven through the project. They had an interesting “sacrifice” that I enlisted for but wasn’t chosen. Read about it here. Also, look at my dinos 🦕:

I’m pumped to be a part of their community and see how things play out.

Boss Beauties NFT: Supporting Gen Z social entrepreneurs, designers, and change-makers

Did you read the title carefully? That’s pretty much everything I love. Boss Beauties empower young women to build the career of their dreams. I had access to the pre-mint (thank god) because the public launch sold out within 90 minutes. Here’s why I minted:

The team is truly passionate about the cause, especially Lisa Mayer, the founder.
